What is a Blog and What is Blogging
Content Management System, short for CMS, is an application used to create, edit, manage, search, and publish various kinds of digital media (graphics, audio, and video) and electronic text. In the early times, websites were static. When World Wide Web was first introduced, websites were text-only.
Graphics were introduced shortly after. Then people found ways to embed audios and videos, making websites dynamic. Before CMS was introduced, users couldn't update the content themselves. They have to go through web masters to have their websites updated. With CMS, users can update content by themselves. Not only that, users can interact with each other live on the web. people can chat with each other directly on the web, share files, audios, and videos. Things like virtual offices didn't exist before the creation of CMS. Some CMS Examples:
- Blogs
- Forums
- Wiki
- Help Desk
- Live Chat
- ...etc, basically any kind of web platform that allows user interactions
A website can contain all of the above. Each CMS application has its pros and cons. A blog is a type of CMS application. it is under the category of web Content Management system (WCM).
